Packages of Hope

Overview

Packages of Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children in orphanages throughout the world. With operations in such countries in Africa, Bulgaria and China, they help children living in nunder-funded areas get food, clothing, toys and medical equipment to increase their quality of life.

Objective

Packages of Hope had been using a website for several years that, while informative, was no longer reaching an audience level their organization required. In requesting a new interface design, they wanted a site that would be a reflection on both their organization and services they provided.

Solution

Working with several outside agencies we helped to organize more than four years of content into a new, more easier to navigate package. This entailed going through each page and article, updating information and images, and create a new file structure for the site.

We then designed several user interfaces, choosing an interface that was both fun and inviting, while still professional and serious regarding the work that they do. Our final design employed a layered approach using several bakground layers, which would be visible in newer browsers, yet still functional in several older browsers. We also went with a blog-styled layout that could be easily upgraded into a content management system in the future.

For the development of the site, we went with a hybrid combination of flash, PHP and CSS to create a clear static layout with animation capabilities and expandability.
